On all three occasions the beetle was sitting motionless in a sunny position on a headstone or monument.April 17th, St Mary's Churchyard x1 specimen seen on sitting motionless in a sunny position on a headstone. A single specimen seen walking across bramble leaf.; April 17th, City of London Cemetery. x13 seen in different places around the cemetery on brambles, ivy, nettle and one on the flower of a daffodil. April 17th, St Mary's Churchyard. x3 seen on brambles. A single specimen seen sitting on a bramble leaf on April 22nd in the graveyard of St Peter's-in-the-Forest. x1 seen walking across a headstone. (GW); one in car park near Jubilee Pond, Wanstead Flats on 7 May (PF) photo Orange Ladybird Halyzia 16-guttata : March 5th City of London Cemetery. x3 specimens seen at about 1 meter from the ground in separate crevices of the large Oak tree at the junction of Belfry Road and New Road. (GW) Harlequin Ladybird Harmonia axyridis : April 17th City of London Cemetery. x1 specimen seen walking across the top of a smooth polished granite monument in Anchor Road. Black with four red spots/splodges - the front two were larger than the hind. (GW); one by Jubilee Pond car park on 7 May (PF). Specimen was seen, captured, identified, then released when a log was lifted to see what lurked beneath. (GW) Ground Beetle Amara sp.: April 17th City of London Cemetery; x1 specimen sheltering in a groove on a monument at the Outer Circle Road. (GW) Green Dock Beetle Gastrophysa viridula : April 14th Round Pond Plain. x10+ specimens seen on stinging nettles growing at the edge of ? Pond outside Forest School. Some beetles were in pairs, probably mating.
