An occasional visitor; this individual stayed a few weeks, moving between Heronry Pond and the Ornamental Water, and elicited a lot of interest by Park users and even the local newspaper.

There is an old painting of the Grotto which depicts a Black Swan (as well as a Fallow Deer!); the fact of the Black Swan suggests that it may have been resident, which could mean that it had been introduced.
