The Azolla (Water Fern) in 2008. Here it can be seen near to the barrage beneath the railway lines. This barrage restricts the flow of the Alders Brook, it has been suggested to protect the nearby Ilford Golf Course from flooding. Whether this is the case or not, it is clear that it inhibits what should be a natural flow, and suggestions have been made to the Environment Agency to have it removed. | |||||
