The first example of this species was found by Alexandra Lake on 9th September 2005. The soil had recently been disturbed in re-building what had been a gravel beach into a raised edge.

Subsequently, numerous plants grew in late September and into October 2010 when part of a ditch designed to drain excess surface water from the Flats was infilled. The material used was a very sandy soil, and with it came various species of plant that were not indigenous to Wanstead Flats, including Green Amaranth
