Hazels are scarce in the area, with one specimen near the SE corner of Bush Wood and a few on the west edge of the Ornamental Waters, near the southern arm. One was discovered only in 2011 growing right at the edge of Wanstead Flats, nearly opposite the gates of the City of London Cemetery.
