Spanish Bluebells pose a threat to the true English Bluebells which are iconic plants in Wanstead Park, due to hybridisation.

There are some Spanish Bluebells at the west end of Chalet Wood, and there are many more alongside the Woodlands Avenue wayleave, and in the edging woodland by Northumberland Avenue. These are likely to derive from plants outcast from neighbouring gardens.
