The pondweed Hydrocotyle ranunculoides, was noticed at the west end of Heronry Pond last year, and the Wren Conservation Group took action in April 2005 to try to stop the spread of this highly invasive species.

It remains to be seen how effective this work will be, as leaving even a small amount may quickly lead to a re-invasion
