I am not certain that this Cylindroiulus millipede is C. punctatus, but believe that it may be. This is said to be the most common and widespread species of millipede in Britain.

The British Myriapod and Isopod Group's website states that it may be found in most habitats, but has a preference for woodland rather than open spaces. However, this one was found on Wanstead Flats, but as can be seen in the photograph is associated with some dead wood, which the species favours..
