This is a female with spiderlings, found in my garden not in a rolled-up leaf which is typical of the nesting behaviour of the species, but on the shaded side of a satellite dish that I'd temporarily laid on the ground. This common species in Britain may be found in hedgerows, grassland and gardens, and this individual is of one of three major forms (morphs): in this case lineata, with a plain yellow/cream abdomen. |
